SPENDING MONEY AS A GROUP JUST CHANGED. FINALLY.
No math. No covering. No chasing. No paying interest on someone else's tab.
Just time back to enjoy.
With other apps you request money back later. With Live Pay you lock it in first.
Patent-Pending Technology
The Problem
Group purchases and outings - shouldn't end like this.
The Cover
Someone always ends up putting it all on their card. That someone is tired of it.
The Chase
"I'll get you back soon." A week goes by. Then two. Now you're texting like a debt collector.
The Time Spent
Splitting tax, fees, and tips. Sending and tracking each request individually. Plus the now avoidable follow up text? No thanks.
The Interest
Even if your friends pay you back the second the bill comes, that money doesn't pay down your credit card. Your balance sits there — accruing interest — until you sit down to pay bills. Usually once a month.
THE HIDDEN COST NOBODY TALKS ABOUT
Every time you cover a group expense on your credit card — dinner, concert tickets, an Airbnb, or a work purchase made on behalf of your team — even when you get reimbursed the same night or through accounting, that charge is still on your credit card.
Nobody pays their credit card at dinner. And nobody rushes to pay it down the moment accounting processes their expense report. That happens once a month when you sit down to do the painful stuff. In that gap — days, sometimes weeks — you're paying interest on money you spent for other people. Money you already got back. That interest never gets reimbursed. It just quietly disappears from your pocket.
A group isn't just friends. It's also a company. An employee covering a work expense on their personal card is doing the same thing as the friend who covers dinner — absorbing interest on a collective purchase while waiting to be made whole.
HERE'S WHAT WE'VE ALREADY BUILT
Organize with a debit card and choose instant payout. The moment your group authorizes, the funds land in your account — usually within 30 minutes. Your balance dips and recovers before you've even left. No credit card. No balance to carry. No interest. Ever.
AND HERE'S WHERE WE'RE GOING
A virtual card funded directly by your group's authorization — so no one's card, debit or credit, is ever the one on the line. No payment system has built this yet. We're building toward it.
When nobody covers, there's nothing to pay down later.
✨ The More You Know
THE POINTS DON'T ADD UP
You get back 1-3% in points for covering the bill. But credit card interest is usually 20% or more. If that charge sits on your card for even a few weeks, the interest can cost more than the points are worth — and then some, every month after. The points feel like a win. The interest is the real cost.
The Solution
Two ways to use it. Same idea behind both.
The only payment app where you're not paying people back.
★ LIVE SPLIT
For group purchases
- ✓ Everyone you invite taps a link to confirm their share before you buy
- ✓ Everyone pays at the same time
- ✓ Nobody fronts anything for the group
★ LIVE TAB
For going out
- ✓ Everyone you invite taps a link to confirm their share before each round
- ✓ Everyone pays for their own drinks at the end of the night
- ✓ Nobody owes anyone in the morning
Everyone you invite taps a link to authorize their share with any debit or credit card — they never share bank account information, and only the organizer needs the app installed.
No Interest. Either Way.
Choose instant payout with a debit card, and there's no interest — no matter which order you do things in.
Pay now, get reimbursed instantly
Pay the bill with your debit card. The moment your group authorizes, funds land back in your account — usually within 30 minutes. Your balance dips and recovers. Debit cards don't carry interest, so there's nothing to pay down later.
Or wait, then pay with funds already there
Authorize your group first. Once everyone's in, instant payout sends the funds to your debit card — usually within 30 minutes. Pay the bill with money that's already yours. No credit card touches this at all.
No credit card. No balance. No interest. Ever.
How It Works
Three steps. Zero awkward conversations.
One person sets it up
Pick Live Split for any group purchase or Live Tab for going out. Send your friends the link.
Friends tap to confirm
Each person confirms their share with a tap. They only see their own amount. So do you.
Done
Once everyone confirms, the payment goes through. If someone doesn't confirm, nothing happens. Simple.
This coordination flow is patent-pending — the same model used by Uber, hotels, and gas stations applied to friend groups for the first time. (US Application No. 64/047,946)
No App Required For Joiners
Collect from your group without them having to download anything.
You're the only one who needs Live Pay. Everyone you invite just taps a link from your text message — no download, no sign-up, no bank info shared.
No download for your group
You text the invite. They tap the link. They authorize their share in their browser. That's it.
Any card works
No need to ask "what payment app do you use?" Your group authorizes with whatever debit or credit card they already have.
No bank info shared
Your group never connects a bank account or shares routing numbers. Just a card authorization, like any online checkout.
Why Live Pay
Why we built this
Every payment app today asks people to pay you back. We thought there had to be a better way.
Because money shouldn't cause friction
Money should never be the reason friend, family, or work relationships feel off. Awkward conversations, forgotten requests, "I'll get you next time." We believe these factors can, and should be reduced — even eliminated.
Because covering for others shouldn't cost you
Every time someone covers a group expense, they risk paying interest on money that was never theirs to spend — quietly, every month, with nothing to show for it. We believe that shouldn't be the norm. Live Pay was built so financial risk is never passed onto whoever happens to be holding the card.
Because no one should be left holding the bill
Live Pay pre-authorizes everyone's share before items are ordered online or at a bar/restaurant. If the group doesn't lock it in, the holds cancel automatically. No purchase. No refund chase. No changing plans.
Borrowed from a system that already works
Live Pay's Pre-Authorization system is the same system ride sharing apps, hotels, and gas stations rely on every day. Modern businesses use it everywhere because it works — by preventing problems before they happen. We brought the same financial protection to groups of friends, family, and coworkers.
Frequently Asked
Questions About Live Pay
What is Live Pay?
Live Pay is a payment app for groups. Everyone in the group pre-authorizes their share before the purchase happens. No one fronts the money. No one chases people down later. The only payment app where you're not paying people back.
How is Live Pay different from Venmo, Cash App, or other payment apps?
With other apps — Venmo, Cash App, Splitwise — someone covers first and requests money back later. Even when friends pay back immediately, that charge sits on the organizer's credit card until their next bill payment, usually once a month. In that gap, interest accrues on money already recovered. Live Pay flips the model: everyone locks in their share before the purchase happens. No one fronts the money — so there's nothing to chase down, and nothing to pay down later.
Why does it matter who pays first?
Because whoever covers a group expense on their credit card absorbs the interest on that charge until they pay their bill — even after getting reimbursed. Most people pay their credit card once a month. In the gap between reimbursement and paydown, interest quietly accumulates on money spent for other people. Live Pay eliminates that gap entirely by making sure nobody covers in the first place.
How does pre-authorization work?
Pre-authorization is the same system Uber, hotels, and gas stations use. When you authorize your share, Live Pay places a temporary hold on your card for that exact amount — no money has left your account yet. When the whole group has authorized, the holds convert into a single charge for each person's share. If the group doesn't lock it in, the holds cancel automatically within a few business days and nothing is ever charged. You're not paying twice — the hold simply becomes the payment once the group is ready.
Is the fee worth it?
Live Pay's fee (3% per person, minimum $1, maximum $5) covers payment processing and pre-authorization — and it's shown upfront before anyone authorizes. Here's why it's worth it: without Live Pay, whoever covers a group expense risks paying interest on money that isn't theirs — interest that's invisible, recurring, and never reimbursed. Live Pay's fee replaces that hidden, ongoing cost with a small, one-time, transparent one. And once our virtual card is live, this gets even simpler — the group's funds pay the merchant directly, so there's nothing on anyone's personal card to think about, ever.
What can I use Live Pay for?
Group trips, concert tickets, sports games, vacation rentals, group gifts, and rounds at the bar or restaurant. Anywhere a group of friends needs to share the cost of a purchase, Live Pay handles it before someone has to cover the whole tab.
Can I use Live Pay for work expenses?
A group isn't just friends. It's also a company. An employee covering a work expense on their personal card while waiting for accounting reimbursement faces the same interest gap as the friend who covers dinner. Live Pay is building toward a world where no one — friend group or work group — ever has to cover a collective expense on their personal card again.
How does Live Pay split a group purchase?
The organizer enters the total. Each member sees their share and authorizes it. When everyone has confirmed, the full amount is collected automatically. Tips and taxes are split equally among the group.
Can Live Pay split a tab at a bar or restaurant?
Yes. Live Tab is built for going out with friends. Each member pre-authorizes each round before someone orders. Tips and tax are split equally. At the end of the night, no one is covering anyone else's drinks or food.
Do my friends need to download the app or share bank info to pay me?
No. Only the organizer needs the Live Pay app. Everyone you invite just taps a link from your text message, then authorizes their share with any debit or credit card — same as paying anywhere else online. They never download an app, sign up for an account, or share bank account information.
How fast can I get paid back as the organizer?
When you create a Live Split, you can choose Instant payout. The moment your group authorizes their shares, Live Pay sends the funds directly to your debit card — usually within 30 minutes. There's a small Stripe fee (1.5%, minimum $0.50). Standard payout is free and takes 1-3 business days.
What is the time saved counter?
Every Live Split or Live Tab shows how much time you saved compared to the old way — sending individual payment app requests, tracking who paid, following up with people who forgot. Most splits save 5-20 minutes depending on group size.
Is Live Pay patented?
Live Pay's group pre-authorization flow is patent pending in the United States (Application No. 64/047,946, filed April 23, 2026). The patent covers the specific way Live Pay coordinates individual pre-authorizations across multiple group members for a shared purchase. We filed the patent to protect a genuinely new approach to group payments — one that flips the model from "pay first, chase later" to "everyone authorizes before money moves."
